Did you know that enough solar energy hits the Earth’s surface every hour to power the planet for an entire year?
Solar PV panels are electricity generating solar collectors that capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells. The PV cells convert energy from the sun into electricity that we can use to power our buildings. It is possible to connect your Solar PV system to a battery where you can store any excess energy the panels will generate. With a Smart App, you can put solar power at your fingertips and you can monitor the performance of your system and the savings you are making from anywhere. Solar PV does not need direct sunlight to work. It works perfectly in Irish weather conditions and your system will generate electricity even on overcast days.
Key Benefits
- Produce your own free electricity.
- Protect yourself from fuel inflation.
- Reduce your carbon footprint.
- Improve your BER.
- Increase the value of your home.
- Save money.
How it works
The PV panels mounted on your roof absorb the sun’s energy through the photovoltaic cells built into the collectors. Electrons are extracted from these cells through a semiconductor material and an electrical current is generated. This electrical current is then sent to an inverter which converts it from DC (Direct Current) to AC (Alternating Current), which is usable electricity that can power our homes. From there, the power produced can be sent directly to the fuse board for consumption or to a battery for storage which can be used at a later stage. Any unused electricity you produce can be fed back into the national grid reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
